Wow, that is incredibly brave of Charlie! Also, you are spectacular artist! =)
that bottom panel is just so powerful to me.
your comics are so amazing and moving. I wish more people would read them. I think it would help educate a lot of ignorant people out there.
Oh man I just remembered a joke I would use in that situation. Though if I was Charlie trying to make a statement I wouldn’t for it would be for nothing then. But here’s is what I would say.
Girl: Why are you wearing a skirt?
Me *scottish accent*: I’S A KILT! And d’ya kno’ why I’s called a kilt? Cos ah kilt the last parson who called it a skirt! Now fack off ya bloody cunt. *then proceed with pimp slap*
…I just imagined Tom doing that, and I’m now in hysterics. Thank you. xD
Tom in a kilt needs to happen.
I will do this the next time I wear a skirt
oh god I just exploded. xD
The last panel was so powerful and moving to me, so I scrolled down to the comments to find discussion on Charlie’s bravery and how it reflected people’s own lives.
Instead I found this.
Was not disappoint.
Just rereading this story and got to this page, and was completely unprepared. Tears just sprung in my eyes. Just the thought of anyone looking at my friend Morgan like that, let alone hurting her… who could know when and how to protect someone from this, if you even could? Reminds me of dreams I had when my best friend came out… I was worried sick. I love them so much, and we’ve come so far, but I still get sick with fear for them when I hear about things like this in the news. If only people would read things like this comic. That kid isn’t a named statistic. They’re not a crime victim. They’re a bright spot in the life of someone who desperately loves them just the way they are, and violent ignorance can snuff that out forever.
This is a great page, especially compared to the way Tom saw them walking into school.
Ohhh this made me almost tear up <3
